Warehouse fire forced thousands to evacuate in Hong Kong

A fire broke out at a warehouse building in Cheung Sha Wan in Hong Kong at 13:49 pm on Friday and was later upgraded to No 3 alarm. The Fire Services Department mobilized three jet and three breathing apparatus teams to fight the blaze.

The fire was brought under control by 18:45 pm and extinguished by 20:30 pm, the Fire Services Department confirmed.

According to local reports, six people were injured and more than 3,000 residents were evacuated to safety.

The Sham Shui Po District Office has opened the temporary shelter at Sham Shui Po Sports Centre for residents in need. The SSPDO will closely monitor the situation, and liaise with other government departments to provide residents with appropriate assistance.
