BEIJING — Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi has sent congratulations to Jotham Napat on assuming office as Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vanuatu.

In his congratulatory message dated Friday, Wang said Vanuatu is China's good friend, good partner and good brother in the Pacific islands region.

China-Vanuatu comprehensive strategic partnership has been continuously deepened

This year, he said, marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Vanuatu. Over the past 40 years, under the strategic guidance of the two countries' leaders, the China-Vanuatu comprehensive strategic partnership has been continuously deepened, which is at the forefront of China's relations with Pacific island countries, he added.

Noting that China attaches great importance to the development of China-Vanuatu relations, Wang expressed willingness to deepen dialogue and communication between the two sides, expand practical cooperation, strengthen coordination in international and regional affairs and work to improve and upgrade China-Vanuatu relations, so as to benefit the two countries and their people.
