Shenzhen forward Hao Lin opened the scoring in the ninth minute with a low drive near the box, before Ba Dun of Tianjin scored a follow-up equalizer in the 21st minute after his teammate's volley was denied.

Only five minutes later, Xu Yue's powerful long-range volley helped Shenzhen make the lead to 2-1. After the interval, Ba stood up again, scoring a brace in the 60th minute with a tap-in to haul themselves level. However, Tianjin sealed the win in the 66th minute, as Slovenian striker Robert Beric was clean through on goal.

"It's a tough game and I'm very happy to see that we are more mature on both the offensive and defensive ends. I hope we can keep the morale and get better," said Tianjin head coach Yu Genwei.
