Mainland reports 368 new local confirmed COVID-19 cases

BEIJING - The Chinese mainland reported 368 locally-transmitted confirmed COVID-19 cases on Monday, of which 274 were in Shanghai and 51 in Beijing, according to the National Health Commission's report Tuesday.

Apart from Shanghai and Beijing, 11 other provincial-level regions on the mainland saw new local COVID-19 cases, including 13 in the northeastern province of Heilongjiang

Shanghai also reported 5,395 locally transmitted asymptomatic infections of the novel coronavirus Monday, out of a total of 5,647 local asymptomatic carriers newly identified on the mainland.

Following the recovery of 4,271 COVID-19 patients on Monday, there were 16,266 confirmed COVID-19 cases undergoing treatment in hospitals across the Chinese mainland.

Monday saw 20 deaths from COVID-19, all in Shanghai, bringing the mainland's total COVID-19 deaths to 5,112 since the pandemic began more than two years ago.
