BERLIN - RB Leipzig has changed from a supplier for Europe's big clubs into a title hopeful haven for its stars.

The current success under the new coach Domenico Tedesco seems to have made several sought-after players such as Christopher Nkunku, Dani Olmo, Andre Silva, and Dominik Szoboszlai change their minds and stay

The current success under the new coach Domenico Tedesco seems to have made several sought-after players such as Christopher Nkunku, Dani Olmo, Andre Silva, and Dominik Szoboszlai change their minds and stay.

The development of former RB stars such as Timo Werner (Chelsea), Naby Keita (Liverpool), and Marcel Sabitzer (Bayern Munich) stand as warning examples.

All three left with ambitious goals and have meanwhile lost their position as regulars in their new teams. Being placed on the bench is said to endanger their 2022 Qatar World Cup participation.

Twenty-four-year-old French international Nkunku, on Paris Saint-German's list, and 23-year-old Spanish international Olmo, courted by Barcelona, are reported to have skipped departing plans to not lose ground in their national teams.

Portuguese international Andre Silva and Croatian international Josko Gvardiol follow similar strategies.

In addition, the prospect of titles has increased the club's attractiveness.

Under coach Tedesco, Leipzig has developed into the German Bundesliga' team of the hour after the winter break, and chances to win the first title since the club's foundation 13 years ago have never been better.

The side is on a promising way to again qualify for next season's Champions League campaign after conquering the third place following a 1-0 victory in Leverkusen.

The time of harvest seems close after reaching the Euro League semifinal against the Glasgow Rangers and the last four duel in the German Cup against Union Berlin this Wednesday.

Swedish international Emil Forsberg talked about good vibrations around the team.

"We have fun, the game style is perfectly addressing the players' desires and we are successful," the 30-year-old stated.

Twice RB ended up as the national league's second. Twice they lost the German Cup final against Bayern and Dortmund. In 2019 Leipzig lost the Champions League semifinal against Paris.

The inconsistency that shaped the era of Tedesco's predecessor Jesse Marsch now seems a thing of the past thanks to the successful changes implemented by the German-Italian coach.

The 36-year-old is counting on a manageable squad size aside from well-balanced tactics. Leipzig formally "wild game style" under Marsch changed to a more sophisticated and mature approach.

A balanced squad quality allows Tedesco to change the line-up without losing efficiency. "We can manage the challenging tasks that way," Tedesco said.

Ahead of the semifinal against Union, Leipzig is facing his third consecutive week providing two energy-taking games at a time.

It pays off to have quality on the bench, Hungarian international Peter Gulacsi commented.
