11 virus cases detected in Sha Tin, Fanling testing

HONG KONG - The Hong Kong government detected 11 preliminary positive COVID-19 cases during overnight targeted testing operations in Sha Tin and Fanling.

The government said eight cases were found at Shou Chuen House, Shui Chuen O Estate, Sha Tin while three preliminary cases were detected at Cheung Fung House, Cheung Wah Estate in Fanling


In separate statements issued on Wednesday morning, the government said eight cases were found at Shou Chuen House, Shui Chuen O Estate, Sha Tin while three preliminary cases were detected at Cheung Fung House, Cheung Wah Estate in Fanling.

One resident also had an indeterminate test result in Cheung Fung House, the government added.

The government cordoned off the two buildings on Tuesday after reviewing several factors, including the viral load in their sewage.  The government said 940 residents were tested at Shou Chuen House while 794 underwent testing in Cheung Fung House.

It added that 58 Sha Tin households residents did not answer the door when government health workers knocked while 32 in Fanling also did not reply.

Hong Kong reported 1,433 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, as health officials said some 3,000 positive cases have been confirmed by rapid antigen tests during the three-day voluntary self-test program.
