Nearly 300 virus cases found in targeted testing

HONG KONG - The Hong Kong government said on Tuesday that it had detected 288 preliminary positive COVID-19 cases in the compulsory testing exercises for the restricted areas in Kwai Chung, Sheung Shui and Kwun Tong.

In separate statements, the government said that it made restriction-testing declarations on Monday for six buildings in the districts after the virus was found in sewage discharged from the blocks.

At Shing Yat House of Kwai Shing East Estate in Kwai Chung, around 1,580 people were tested and 44 preliminary positive cases were detected.

Regarding Choi Lai House of Choi Yuen Estate in Sheung Shui where 1,005 people underwent testing, 96 preliminarily tested positive for the virus.

For Sin Tat House of On Tat Estate in Kwun Tong, 124 initially positive cases were identified after testing about 1,950 people.

Concerning Kin On, Hing On and Fu On houses of Wo Lok Estate in Kwun Tong, 24 out of the around 690 people tested received preliminary positive results.

There were also 47 indeterminate cases in the restricted areas. The Centre for Health Protection will follow up on the cases, the government added.
