Virus: 116 cases found in Sha Tin targeted testing

HONG KONG - Health authorities found 116 preliminary positive cases during an extended targeted testing operation in Sha Tin as another block was cordoned off, the government said on Monday.

In a statement, the government said 3,620 persons were tested at the restricted area set up in Pok Tat House, Pok Hong Estate, Sha Tin. Besides the preliminary positive cases, four indeterminate cases were also detected.

Th government cordoned off Pok Tat House on Saturday evening for an overnight testing operation after its sewage showed traces of the coronavirus.

The operation was extended on Sunday after an initial 94 preliminary cases and seven indeterminate cases were detected.

Meanwhile, the government staff members cordoned off Chung Wo House, Chung On Estate, Sha Tin at 2:30 pm on Monday for separate targeted tested operation.

A “restricted area” was set up at the building after its sewage discharge tested positive for COVID-19. The government said it expects to finish the operation by noon time on Tuesday.
