BEIJING - Chinese stocks closed lower on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.34 percent, at 3,597.64 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.3 percent lower at 14,552.82 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 1.08 trillion yuan (about 169.42 billion US dollars), up from 1.01 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Stocks related to consumer electronics and the beer industry led the gains, while the e-commerce and cloud gaming sectors suffered losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.33 percent to close at 3,327.54 points.
