4,800 Election Committee poll cards sent to voters

HONG KONG - The Registration and Electoral Office said it has mailed poll cards to about 4,800 registered voters and authorized representatives eligible to vote in the Election Committee poll slated for Sunday.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the office said voters and authorized representatives can only cast their votes at the polling station specified on their poll card.

The office also reminded voters to bring their Hong Kong identity card or other specified alternative documents to cast their votes.

The 1,500-member committee is responsible for nominating candidates for Hong Kong chief executive and the 90-member Legislative Council, and electing the chief executive and 40 LegCo members. The State Council will subsequently ratify the chief executive’s election.

A total of 412 candidates will contest 364 seats in 13 subsectors in Sunday’s election.

The remaining seats for 27 subsectors are filled automatically, with some being ex officio members.

A total of five ordinary polling stations and a dedicated polling station set up at a police station will be open from 9 am to 6 pm on the election day.
