TOKYO - International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach arrived here on Thursday, 15 days before the opening of the postponed Tokyo Olympic Games.

Bach's flight landed at Tokyo's Haneda Airport and he was seen to be driven to a central Tokyo hotel in an official Olympic vehicle.

Thomas Bach, like all overseas visitors for the Olympic Games, will quarantine at his hotel for three days

The IOC chief is expected to attend a five-party meeting later Thursday with representatives from the Japanese government, the Tokyo Metropolitan government, the Tokyo 2020 organizing committee and the IPC on whether to change the Games' policy on spectators.

The COVID-19 situation in Tokyo has been worsening and the Japanese government looks set to declare a coronavirus state of emergency in the country's capital for a fourth time.
