Mainland sees 8 new local COVID-19 cases in Guangdong

BEIJING - The Chinese mainland on Friday reported eight new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases, all reported in Guangdong province, the National Health Commission said in its daily report on Saturday.

The mainland also posted 27 fresh imported cases, eight of which were reported in Shanghai, six in Yunnan, four each in Jiangsu and Guangdong, and one each in Beijing, Tianjin, Fujian, Sichuan and Shaanxi.

A total of 27 asymptomatic cases were also reported, one of which was reported in Zhejiang and the other 26 were imported from abroad

One new suspected case that arrived from outside the mainland was posted in Shanghai, the commission said, adding that no additional deaths related to COVID-19 was reported.

According to the commission, there were 446 patients still receiving treatment, 12 of whom were in severe conditions.

By Friday, the mainland had reported a total of 91,394 confirmed cases, 86,312 recoveries and 4,636 deaths. A total of 6,228 imported cases had been reported with no fatalities.

There were 10 suspected COVID-19 cases on the mainland on Friday.

By the end of Friday, 11,874 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 210 deaths, had been reported in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), 52 cases in the Macao SAR, and 12,500 cases, including 385 deaths, in Taiwan.

A total of 11,593 COVID-19 patients in the Hong Kong SAR had been discharged from hospitals following recovery, 51 in the Macao SAR, and 1,133 in Taiwan.  

More than 863.5 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine had been administered across the mainland as of Friday, the commission said.
