China's Yunnan reports 2 new local COVID-19 cases

BEIJING/KUNMING - Southwest China's Yunnan province reported two new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, the provincial health commission and the National Health Commission said on Wednesday.

Both cases were found in the border city of Ruili during a citywide nucleic acid testing campaign, the provincial health commission said.

As of Tuesday, 68 confirmed cases and 46 asymptomatic cases were receiving treatment or under medical observation in designated hospitals in the province. 

The Chinese mainland also reported 10 new imported cases Tuesday, the National Health Commission said

The mainland on Tuesday also saw 10 new imported cases, the National Health Commission said in its daily report.

No new suspected cases or deaths related to COVID-19 were reported on Tuesday, according to the commission.

Another eight COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovery, the commission said, adding that there were 248 patients still receiving treatment, one of whom was in severe condition.

A total of 5,371 imported cases had been reported on the mainland by the end of Tuesday with no deaths.

By Tuesday, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases on the mainland reached 90,341, including 85,457 recoveries and 4,636 deaths.

There was one suspected COVID-19 case on the mainland on Tuesday.

Tuesday also saw eight new asymptomatic cases, all arriving from outside the mainland. On the same day, four asymptomatic cases were re-categorized as confirmed cases.

By the end of Tuesday, 11,531 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 205 deaths, had been reported in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), 48 cases in the Macao SAR, and 1,050 cases, including 10 deaths, in Taiwan.

A total of 11,155 COVID-19 patients in the Hong Kong SAR had been discharged from hospitals following recovery, 48 in the Macao SAR, and 1,004 in Taiwan.
