Vietnam communist party nominates for leader line-up

HANOI - The 13th Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC) wrapped up its second plenary session here on Tuesday, reaching high consensus on the nominations of state leadership for the next tenure, Vietnam News Agency reported.

At the two-day plenum, the committee voted on the nomination of candidates to the posts including state president, prime minister and National Assembly (NA) chairperson. The nominations will be submitted for approval to the next session of the 14th NA, the country's top legislature, in late March.

CPVCC General Secretary and Vietnamese President Nguyen Phu Trong said the committee had discussed the nominations democratically, considered thoroughly, selected the most suitable options and reached high consensus

In his closing remarks, CPVCC General Secretary and Vietnamese President Nguyen Phu Trong said the committee had discussed the nominations democratically, considered thoroughly, selected the most suitable options and reached high consensus.

After the plenum, the committee will also direct the consolidation of leadership in a number of party organs which are subject to personnel changes, to ensure the smoothness and continuity of the activities of the entire political system, Trong said.

He stressed the focus on building an action program and plan to carry out the resolution of the 13th CPV National Congress, and continuing to prepare for the upcoming elections of deputies to the 15th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2021-2026 tenure, according to Vietnam News Agency.
