LONDON - Uncertainty hangs over some of the midweek fixtures scheduled in the English Premier League as the result of the coronavirus.

Manchester United will go top of the table if they take a point from Tuesday's short visit to play Burnley

Manchester City will be without striker Sergio Aguero for their home game against struggling Brighton on Wednesday night after the Argentine striker was forced to self-isolate after coming into close contact with a person who has subsequently tested positive for COVID-19.

Pep Guardiola's side will be confident of a win that would lift them into the top-four against a Brighton team who needed a nerve-wracking penalty shoot-out to get past fourth-tier Newport County in the FA Cup on Sunday evening.

Manchester United will go top of the table if they take a point from Tuesday's short visit to play Burnley, although coach Ole Gunnar Solskjar has doubts over Paul Pogba and Luke Shaw's fitness for the game.

Wolves also play Everton on Tuesday night while Sheffield United will look to follow their FA Cup success away to Bristol Rovers with their first Premier League win of the season when Newcastle United visit Bramall Lane.

Aston Villa fielded a team made up of juniors against Liverpool in the FA Cup due to an outbreak of coronavirus among their squad and that has placed Wednesday's league game against Tottenham in doubt.

Speaking after his side's 5-0 win away to sixth tier side Marine, Spurs coach Jose Mourinho insisted the league game would be played.

"Nobody has told me that I'm not going to play so we start to prepare for that game, and the same Tuesday unless somebody tells us different," said Mourinho.
