Chinese mainland reports 13 new virus cases, all imported

BEIJING - The Chinese mainland on Friday reported no new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases, the National Health Commission said Saturday.

A total of 13 imported COVID-19 cases were reported across the mainland Friday. Of the new imported cases, five were reported in Shanghai, two each in Jiangsu and Guangdong, and one each in Tianjin, Zhejiang, Fujian and Yunnan, the commission said in its daily report.

No new suspected cases or new deaths related to the disease were reported, the commission said.

By the end of Friday, a total of 4,002 imported cases had been reported on the mainland. Among them, 3,752 had been discharged from hospitals after recovery, and 250 remained hospitalized. No deaths had been reported among the imported cases.

A total of 81,774 patients had been discharged from hospitals after recovery on the mainland, and 4,634 had died of the disease, according to the commission.

There were three suspected COVID-19 cases on the mainland on Friday. A total of 6,904 close contacts remained under medical observation.

Also on Friday, 17 new asymptomatic cases were reported, with 15 arriving from outside the mainland. Two asymptomatic cases, both from outside the mainland, were re-categorized as confirmed cases on the same day.

A total of 196 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation, including 185 arriving from outside the mainland.

By the end of Friday, 7,377 confirmed COVID-19 cases including 114 deaths had been reported in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), 46 cases in the Macao SAR, and 725 cases including seven deaths in Taiwan.

A total of 5,996 COVID-19 patients in the Hong Kong SAR had been discharged from hospitals after recovery, while 46 had been discharged in the Macao SAR, and 595 in Taiwan.
