Hui was granted bail in a court hearing on Nov 6, during which he faced charges for interrupting the proceedings of the LegCo by splashing foul-smelling liquid. The bail allows him to leave the city for the purposes of work. After a three-day official visit in Denmark, Hui, on the evening of Dec 3, announced on social media that he was seeking exile abroad, but hadn’t yet decided in which country he would seek to stay.
Several local activists, who are charged with various crimes in Hong Kong, have fled the city and sought asylum in overseas countries and regions, including Nathan Law Kwun-chung, who fled to the United Kingdom shortly after implementation of the National Security Law for Hong Kong on June 30.
