Evergrande beat Luneng, R&F draw with Suning in CSL

DALIAN - Guangzhou Evergrande coach Fabio Cannavaro marked his 47th birthday with a 2-1 victory over Shandong Luneng on Sunday, while Jiangsu Suning drew with Guangzhou R&F 3-3 in the Chinese Super League.

Luneng were on a three-game winless run before Sunday's game while Evergrande dominated Group A, despite losing to Luneng 1-0 in the first leg, their only defeat this season.

Evergrande had a good opportunity just four minutes into the game but Ai Kesen hit chance off target.

Luneng were dealt a blow in the 20th minute as Marouane Fellaini picked up an injury, making way for Roger Guedes.

Evergrande broke the deadlock in the 40th minute with a moment of magic, as Paulinho dribbled past several defenders at the edge of the box, unleashing a rocket that went beyond an out-stretched Wang.

Evergrande doubled the lead in the 69th minute with a stunning free kick from Ai, two minutes after his tap-in was ruled out due to off-side.

Luneng pulled one goal back in the 85th minute as Evergrande's goalkeeper Liu Dianzuo's howler allowed Wu Xinghan to score a follow-up.

Evergrande continue their dominance in Group A with 28 points while Luneng sit third with 17.

In the other game, Jiangsu Suning fumbled a 3-1 lead against Guangzhou R&F, only to slip to a 3-3 draw.

R&F ran riot in the dying minutes as new sign Song Wenjie forced Ji Xiang to score an own goal in the 88th minute, four minutes before Chang Feiya scored the leveler with a volley.

After the game, Suning sit second with 19 points, while R&F rank third to the bottom with 11.
