Shangdong sees new governor, Shanghai has new mayor

SHANGHAI/JINAN - Li Ganjie was elected governor of east China's Shandong province by the provincial legislature on Tuesday.

The 13th Shandong Provincial People's Congress elected the governor at its fourth session.

Li, born in 1964, is a native of Changsha, capital of central China's Hunan province. He was appointed deputy governor and acting governor of Shandong in April.  

Also on Tuesday, Gong Zheng was elected mayor of Shanghai Municipality by local legislature on Tuesday.

The 15th Shanghai Municipal People's Congress elected the mayor at its fourth session.

Gong, born in 1960, is a native of Suzhou city, east China's Jiangsu province. He was appointed vice mayor and acting mayor of Shanghai in March.
