BEIJING - Chinese stocks closed higher on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up by 0.2 percent, at 2,921.4 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.09 percent higher at 11,112.5 points.

The combined turnover of the two bourses stood at 772.11 billion yuan (about US$108.5 billion), expanding from 761.59 billion yuan the previous trading day.

Gainers outnumbered losers by 888 to 530 on the Shanghai bourse and 1,371 to 734 in Shenzhen.

Amongst the biggest winners was Anhui Coreach Technology Co., Ltd. in the Mini-LED sector, which surged past the daily average of 10 percent to end at 46.82 yuan per share.

Companies in the sectors of medical equipment and food processing led the losses.

The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.6 percent to close at 2,145.29 points on Tuesday.
