LONDON - Manchester United beat Manchester City 2-0 on Sunday to claim their first Premier League double over their city rivals in a decade.

A first half free kick from Anthony Martial opened the scoring for United, who only had 28 percent of the ball during the game, but still created more clear cut chances than their rivals.

Manchester City keeper Ederson got both hands on Martial's free kick and will be disappointed not to keep the ball out, but his error in United's second goal was worse as he rolled the ball out from the edge of his penalty area deep into injury time.

Salah's goal makes him the first Liverpool player to score 20 goals in three consecutive seasons since Michael Owen in 2003 and his side are just three wins away from assuring the title

United midfielder Scott McTominay got to the ball before any City players and was able to clip a first time shot into an empty net to keep his side in fifth place.

City meanwhile look as if they are putting all their hopes for the rest of the season in the Champions League, but unless they defend better in their return leg at home to Real Madrid the 2-1 lead they took in the Santiago Bernabeu a fortnight ago could be at risk.

Liverpool returned to winning ways, but were made to suffer and come back from a goal down as they won 2-1 at home to Bournemouth.

Callum Wilson got away with what looked like a clear foul on Joe Gomez in Bournemouth's ninth minute opening goal, to leave Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp raging at the fourth official. However, a 25th minute goal from Mohamed Salah and a 33rd minute goal from Sadio Mane gave his side a record breaking 22nd consecutive home win in the league.

Salah's goal makes him the first Liverpool player to score 20 goals in three consecutive seasons since Michael Owen in 2003 and his side are just three wins away from assuring the title.

Carlo Ancelotti had a miserable return to Stamford Bridge as Everton suffered a 4-0 hammering away to Chelsea which seriously damages their hopes of European football next season.

Chelsea's 'old guard' enjoyed a good day to build on their midweek FA Cup win over Liverpool, with Pedro Rodriguez, Willian and Olivier Giroud all on the scoresheet after youngster Mason Mount opened the scoring for Chelsea in the 14th minute.

Dele Alli's 50th minute penalty ended Tottenham's losing streak as they scraped a point away to Burnley, who had taken a 13th minute lead through Chris Wood, but the point didn't stop Spurs' coach Jose Mourinho criticizing midfielder Tanguy Ndombele for his performance.

A long delay for the VAR was needed before Alexander Lacazette's 78th minute winner for Arsenal against West Ham United was ruled to be valid after doubts over Mesut Ozil's possible offside, but West Ham had only themselves to blame for missing chances which cost them the chance of a point in the game.

Billy Sharp's 36th minute decided Sheffield United's game at home to Norwich in favor of the home side and keeps Sheffield's hopes of playing in Europe alive, while keeping Norwich rooted to the bottom of the table.

Meanwhile Allen Saint-Maximin scored Newcastle United's first goal in 435 minutes to give them a 1-0 win away to 10-man Southampton and considerably ease their relegation worries.

Southampton had been reduced to 10 men after Moussa Djenepo was given a red card after catching Scott Hayden's ankle after overrunning the ball.

Andrew Ayew's goal made it two wins in two games for Crystal Palace, but thwarted Watford's chances of pulling clear of the bottom three, while Wolves striker Raul Jimenez had a rare off day as Brighton clung on for a 0-0 draw in their visit to Molineux.
