Approved by the Communist Party of China Central Committee, the commission decided to dispatch an inspection group to investigate the issues related to Li, an ophthalmologist with the Central Hospital of Wuhan, who passed away early Friday after being infected with the novel coronavirus despite the best efforts of doctors.

Li was one of eight people who tried to warn about the novel coronavirus when it first emerged in Wuhan but was reprimanded by local police.
