UNITED NATIONS — China's UN envoy on Thursday called on the international community to adopt a responsible attitude, work together to combat the novel coronavirus, and avoid overreaction that may result in more negative spillover effects.

China's Permanent Representative to the UN Zhang Jun said that solidarity is what the world needs under the current circumstances

Briefing UN media on China's decisive and strong measures to combat the virus, China's Permanent Representative to the UN Zhang Jun said that solidarity is what the world needs under the current circumstances.

Regarding the World Health Organization (WHO)'s declaration of the outbreak as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern, Zhang stressed that the WHO continues to have confidence in China's capacity to control the outbreak and there is no reason for measures that unnecessarily interfere with international travel and trade.
