Tapping into SE Asia's semiconductor ecosystem
Hong Kong manufacturers are setting up production bases in Penang, Malaysia, dubbed the "Silicon Valley of the East", to tap into its high-value semiconductor ecosystem and boost supply-chain resilience. Industry leaders told China Daily several key factors have prompted this strategic move, including proximity to major clients, surging demand in the high-end semiconductor market, and seamless integration of advanced technologies from mainland operations into local production lines.
