ASEAN aims to reduce dependence on the US market
Erica Tay, director of macro research at Kuala Lumpur-based Maybank, told China Daily that the Association of Southeast Asian Nations aims to enhance its economic influence and reduce reliance on the United States by strengthening internal coordination and expanding trade relations with China and European countries. She added that Malaysia, as this year’s rotating ASEAN chair, should encourage member states to collaborate on promoting trade openness.
