Officials from a leading airline reaffirmed Hong Kong’s position as a vital link connecting France and the global aviation network on Wednesday during an event to celebrate the 88th anniversary of its Paris-Hong Kong route.
“Hong Kong remains a strategic gateway between Europe and Asia, embodying the values of openness and international connectivity that resonate with Air France,” said Steven van Wijk, general manager of Air France-KLM, Greater China. “We are proud to have been part of this vibrant city’s journey and remain dedicated to strengthening the bonds that connect Hong Kong to the world.”

Noud Duyzings, senior vice-president of Air France-KLM, the Netherlands & International Markets, said that Hong Kong, as a global city that brings together people, cultures, businesses and ideas, naturally aligns with the airline’s identity and mission. “Celebrating 88 years fills us with pride for our heritage and confidence in our future.”

Under secretary for Transport and Logistics Liu Chun-san said that over the 88 years, the airline had strengthened Hong Kong’s position as a global aviation hub, adding that the two sides could forge deeper business, tourist and cultural ties and deepen their partnership.
“With the full commissioning of the three-runway system, Hong Kong has significantly enhanced its capacity to support the continued long-term growth of air traffic,” Liu said, noting that the city is expanding its air services network, targeting key international routes and emerging growth markets.
