This year’s Hong Kong FinTech Week adopts “Finance+”, “AI+” and global expansion as its three core engines for sustainable business growth, bringing together global innovators and investors to explore cross-border commercial ties.
Taking place from Nov 2–6, Hong Kong FinTech Week will run alongside the StartmeupHK Festival 2026, and is expected to attract more than 45,000 participants from over 120 economies, alongside more than 1,000 speakers, 800 exhibitors and startups and over 30 delegations.
Alpha Lau Hai-suen, director-general of Investment Promotion of Invest HK, said at a press conference on Friday that the event’s three engines reflect the city’s strategic priorities, and Hong Kong’s unique strength lies in bringing these three forces together, enabling innovators to turn ideas into business.
Themed “Fintech Nexus: Bridging the World, Building the Future”, the event is expected to unite industry innovators spanning fintech, artificial intelligence, health tech, green tech and the creative economy, and create opportunities for companies to forge partnerships and tap new markets.
“They include Chinese mainland companies looking to go global, Association of Southeast Asian Nations businesses seeking partners and investment, and European and North American companies connecting with Asia’s growth opportunities,” Lau said, noting this comes as Hong Kong cements its status as Asia’s premier hub for two-way investment.

Some 550 overseas and mainland companies established and expanded in Hong Kong in the first nine months of the year, with these projects expected to generate more than HK$70 billion ($8.9 billion) in overseas direct investment in their first year, Lau said.

At the same press briefing, Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury Christopher Hui Ching-yu set out the infrastructure progress underpinning the fintech event.
He noted that Hong Kong hosted the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Finance Ministerial Meeting earlier this week, when digital infrastructure financing was a key discussion area, while the city is scaling up a suite of financial infrastructure, including AI and data systems, distributed ledger technology, and commodity clearing facilities.
“Hong Kong continues to be one of the most prestigious centers for the development of fintech,” Hui said, adding that the city hosts a thriving community of more than 1,400 fintech companies, including eight digital banks, four virtual insurers, and 12 licensed virtual asset trading platforms.
The event will also showcase how Hong Kong’s fintech capabilities are boosting its development in gold and commodity markets to link global markets, as the city has rolled out a trial operation of the central clearing and settlement system for over-the-counter gold transactions, Hui said.

Running alongside the FinTech Week, a main conference and 10 dedicated forums spanning AI, digital assets, green tech, insurtech and startup ventures will welcome senior government officials, global regulators and international financial policymakers.
Over the past decade, the city’s fintech strategy has been evolving alongside the market, laying a solid foundation for its whole fintech ecosystem, said George Chou, chief fintech officer of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority.
To turn Hong Kong into a robust, resilient, future-ready fintech hub, based on the “Fintech 2025” strategy, Hong Kong launched the “Fintech 2030” strategy last November, which covers four pillars including data and payment, AI, and ecosystem, Chou said.
