HONG KONG — The Road Safety Council on Thursday announced the launch of its “Road Safety Vision Statement Competition,” supported by the Transport and Logistics Bureau, the Hong Kong Police Force, the Transport Department, the Highways Department and the Hong Kong Road Safety Association.
The competition offers 67 awards worth more than HK$110,000 in cash and vouchers.
The Open Category champion will receive HK$10,000. A “Most Active School Participation Award” has also been introduced to encourage participation by primary and secondary schools.
The initiative revisits the council’s 2003 “Road Safety Vision Competition,” which produced the statement “Zero Accidents on the Road, Hong Kong’s Goal.”
As transport networks expand, smart mobility advances and generative artificial intelligence becomes more widespread, the council said road safety advocacy strategies must evolve.

The competition has three components: a core vision statement contest; the “Mr Safegg Makeover Competition,” which invites participants to create a new look for the council’s mascot; and a Road Safety AI Short Film Competition for 15- to 30-second promotional videos.
The submission deadline is Dec 31.
A jury comprising council members, government representatives and industry leaders will judge entries on thematic relevance, creativity, technical excellence and communication impact.
Winners will be honored at the Council’s Anniversary Carnival on Feb 28, 2027, at the Atrium of D‧PARK in Tsuen Wan. Their work will also be exhibited on-site and online.
All Hong Kong residents are eligible to enter. Details are available at www.roadsafetyvision.hk.
