Thailand received over 23.45 million inbound visitors from Jan 1 to Oct 3, down 3.88 percent from the same period a year earlier, preliminary data from the Ministry of Tourism and Sports showed on Tuesday.

Receipts from foreign visitors fell 2.26 percent to 1.14 trillion baht ($33.91 billion), marking a smaller decline than the drop in arrivals.

China was the largest source market, followed by Malaysia, India, Russia, and South Korea.

Domestic tourism picked up over the same period, with Thais making 153.96 million trips, rising 2.42 percent from a year earlier. Domestic tourism receipts grew 3.19 percent to 902.95 billion baht ($26.86 billion).

It added that flooding in Bangkok had not directly affected tourism, apart from a minor impact from some flight cancellations. The ministry expects arrivals to slow to normal levels this week as holidays end in several markets.
