Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun reaffirmed on Tuesday China's commitment to the peaceful use of outer space and its opposition to the weaponization of and an arms race in outer space, following reports that the United States said it has deployed in-orbit space weapons.

China consistently adheres to the peaceful use of outer space, safeguards outer space security, and opposes the weaponization of outer space, turning it into a battlefield and an arms race, Guo said.

"We urge the US to stop expanding its military buildup in outer space and take concrete actions to uphold global strategic stability," he added.
