KATHMANDU – A total of 626 bodies had been recovered from different areas hit by Wednesday's devastating mudslide in Nepal, as of 10:00 am local time on Saturday, according to the country’s disaster authority.

National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority said that 2,426 people were still missing as of the same time.

A fast-moving chain mudslide, triggered by a high-altitude glacier collapse on the Nepalese side, on Wednesday caused heavy casualties and left many missing at a port on the China-Nepal border in southwest China's Xizang autonomous region.
