
BEIJING – A 5.8-magnitude earthquake jolted Xinghai county of Northwest China's Qinghai province at 11:34 am on Tuesday (Beijing Time), according to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC).
The epicenter was monitored at 35.35 degrees north latitude and 99.58 degrees east longitude. The earthquake struck at a depth of 10 km, the center said.
The 5.8-magnitude earthquake occurred following an earlier 5.7-magnitude quake which hit the same site about 18 minutes ago, according to the CENC.
