Residents on Monday bid farewell to a Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy task force after a five-day port call to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

Crowds flocked to Tsim Sha Tsui and several of the city's other harborfronts to see off the departing guided-missile destroyer CNS Nanning and guided-missile frigate CNS Hengyang. Many people captured the moments of the warships sailing through Victoria Harbour through their camera lens.

The two advanced warships concluded a five-day public opening and cultural exchange event at the Ngong Shuen Chau Naval Base to mark the 29th anniversary of the city's return to the motherland.

Over the weekend, the vessels and their crew welcomed a number of residents aboard on guided tours to learn more about the nation's defense capabilities and maritime responsibilities, boosting their national confidence and pride.
