HONG KONG - The Ngong Shuen Chau barracks of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) garrison in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region has opened to the public as part of the celebrations to mark the 29th anniversary of the city’s return to the motherland and the PLA’s deployment in the SAR.
During the annual open day event, which runs from Saturday to Sunday, visitors took part in a range of activities, including flag-raising ceremonies, military band and drill performances, military equipment displays, and hands-on training experiences. Attendees can also tour the garrison’s exhibition center, enjoy cultural performances, and sample military rations.
The other two barracks in Shek Kong and San Wai will open to residents from June 27 to 28.
