China's defense minister meets Kyrgyz PM to strengthen ties

China's Minister of National Defense, Dong Jun, who is visiting Kyrgyzstan, met with its Prime Minister, Adylbek Kasymaliev, in Bishkek on Monday.

Dong stated that China and Kyrgyzstan are good neighbors, friends, and partners, maintaining a friendship across generations, according to China's Ministry of National Defense.

Under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, bilateral relations have achieved significant development, and all-round cooperation has reached a new level, he said.

In recent years, the ties between the two militaries have maintained strong momentum, with fruitful cooperation across various fields, Dong added.

China is willing to work with Kyrgyzstan to further deepen their traditional friendship and improve the quality and efficiency of their cooperation, the Chinese defense minister said.

The Chinese side is eager to strengthen coordination with the Central Asian country on multilateral platforms to jointly safeguard a peaceful environment for development and revitalization, injecting more positive energy into a turbulent world, Dong said.

Kasymaliev noted that Kyrgyzstan-China relations are developing rapidly and steadily, with a high level of political mutual trust. He emphasized that Kyrgyzstan always regards China as a core strategic partner. Kyrgyzstan will continue to deepen its comprehensive strategic partnership with China and strengthen cooperation on bilateral and multilateral platforms, especially within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, he said.

Citing a turbulent international situation marked by emerging security challenges and threats, the prime minister said that further advancing practical military cooperation between the two sides is of great realistic significance for jointly addressing terrorism, extremism, separatism, transnational crime, and other security threats.
