Hong Kong sees visitor arrivals surge 18% to nearly 10m in first two months

Visitor arrivals in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region reached 9.95 million in the first two months of 2026, surging 18 percent over the same period last year, according to the Hong Kong Tourism Board.

The HKTB said in a statement that the arrivals included 7.9 million from the Chinese mainland, up 22 percent year-on-year, mainly due to the Spring Festival holidays and various mega events.

Arrivals from abroad also totaled 2.06 million during the same period, marking an 8 percent year-on-year increase, the HKTB said.

With notable results from long-haul markets, the number of visitors from Australia, France and Germany grew by 20 percent to 30 percent year-on-year, it added.

The HKTB also said that arrivals from short-haul markets fluctuated compared to the same months last year due to different Spring Festival holidays and Ramadan dates.

The official Spring Festival holiday in the mainland lasted for nine days from Feb 15-23, the longest on record. Hong Kong saw nearly 50 million visitor arrivals in 2025.
