China on Wednesday expressed the hope that Bangladesh will hold the parliamentary election as scheduled, ensure a smooth and orderly process, and steadily advance its national political agenda.

Bangladesh's upcoming parliamentary election is scheduled for Feb 12.

Speaking at a daily news briefing, Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said the election is an internal matter for Bangladesh, and that China consistently upholds the principle of non-interference in other countries' internal affairs.
