
BEIJING - The Beijing Ducks and the Guangdong Southern China Tigers each went to a 5-0 record after beating their respective opponents in the fifth round of the 2025-2026 season of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league.
The Beijing Ducks overwhelmed the Sichuan Blue Whales 97-46 on Monday. Despite benching star forward Zeng Fanbo due to injury, three-time CBA champion Beijing started the game well with a 14-2 run and closed the first quarter 29-10.
The Blue Whales continued their struggle on the offensive side in the second quarter, in which they made only six points. The half ended with Beijing leading 52-16. Sichuan's 16 points set a new CBA record for the lowest first-half score by a team (previously 19 points, also by Sichuan).

Beijing maintained its good form in the second half, wrapping up the victory with a 51-point advantage. The 51-point margin marked the largest in the ongoing season, and Sichuan's 46 points turned out to be the second-lowest in CBA history.
Omari Spellman had 17 points for the Ducks. Eugene German added 12. Mangok Mathiang and Fang Shuo got 10 points respectively.
In Monday's other games, the Shenzhen Aviators edged the Shandong Heroes 95-92, the Liaoning Flying Leopards beat the Beijing Royal Fighters 98-86, and the Jilin Northeast Tigers downed the Ningbo Rockets 82-77.
Guangdong defeated Guangzhou 93-85 on Tuesday. Jared Sullinger had 32 points and 10 rebounds for Guangdong, while point guard Xu Jie added 20. Lindell Wigginton had 20 points, 8 rebounds and 11 assists for Guangzhou.
Sullinger led Guangdong to a 10-point advantage in the first quarter. Guangzhou's Wigginton spearheaded a comeback, narrowing the gap before halftime to 50-52. The third quarter saw a back-and-forth battle, and in the final quarter, Guangdong extended its lead to 14 points with a strong run. Guangzhou fought back to reduce the deficit to 5 points, but Sullinger's clutch 4-point play sealed the victory for Guangdong.

In Tuesday's other games, the Zhejiang Lions breezed past the Fujian Sturgeons 84-65, the Jiangsu Dragons edged the Tianjin Pioneers 88-84, the Shanghai Sharks smashed the Zhejiang Golden Bulls 97-77, and the Shanxi Loongs moved past the Nanjing Monkey Kings 103-77.
The Qingdao Eagles beat the Xinjiang Flying Tigers 97-79 on Wednesday.
The sixth round started on Wednesday, with the Shenzhen Aviators beating the Sichuan Blue Whales 96-87, Jilin Northeast Tigers defeating the Beijing Royal Fighters 87-73.
