Thailand thanks China for easing Thailand-Cambodia border tensions

BANGKOK - Thai Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nikorndej Balankura stated on Tuesday that Thailand appreciates China's role in facilitating the de-escalation of tensions along the Thailand-Cambodia border.

Addressing a press briefing on the Thailand-Cambodia border situation the same day, Nikorndej said Thailand appreciated China's engagement and its role in de-escalating the confrontation between Thailand and Cambodia, and commended China for upholding an objective and impartial position.

The spokesperson also briefed the press on Thailand's participation in the Special ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting held on Monday. He reaffirmed that Thailand remains committed to resolving the issue through bilateral frameworks, stressing that any sustainable solution must be driven directly by Thailand and Cambodia.

A meeting of the General Border Committee is scheduled on Wednesday in Thailand, where military representatives from both countries will conduct consultations on ceasefire arrangements.
