TALLINN - Estonia has imposed a temporary ban on flights along its entire eastern border, the ERR portal reported on Friday.

According to the military, this is due to the activity of Russian forces and Ukrainian drones in the Leningrad region. The ban will allow for more thorough monitoring of the airspace.

Flight restrictions in the forbidden zone will be in effect over the coming weeks every day from 8:00 pm to 7:00 am, up to an altitude of 6,000 meters. The military said that it's too early yet to say how long the restrictions will remain in place.

Similar no-fly zones have been introduced by Latvia, which has closed its airspace along the eastern border from Sept. 11 to Sept. 18, with the option of extending the restriction.
