MOSCOW - The drones, which penetrated the Polish airspace and were intercepted, were from Ukraine, Russia's Charge d'Affaires in Poland Andrey Ordash said Wednesday.
The Polish foreign ministry summoned the Russian diplomat on Wednesday over the alleged violation of the country's airspace by Russian drones.
"We know one thing, these drones flew from Ukraine," said Ordash, cited by the TASS news agency. He previously claimed that Warsaw's accusations were completely groundless.
He received a protest note from the Polish side, said Ordash, noting that "no evidence was presented that these drones were of Russian origin."
The Russian defense ministry said Wednesday that no targets on the Polish territory were planned for destruction, clarifying that the maximum flight range of the Russian drones used in strikes on Ukraine does not exceed 700 km.
"Nevertheless, we are ready to hold consultations with the Polish Defense Ministry on the issue," the Russian ministry said.

Meanwhile, Lithuanian Defense Minister Dovile Sakaliene said she believes that the drones' entry into Polish airspace was most likely accidental.
"We do not have precise data at this point. There is a high probability that these drones 'got lost,'" Sakaliene said.
The Belarusian Defense Ministry said Wednesday that it had downed several drones over its airspace overnight. Poland and Lithuania were informed about drones approaching their territories, said Chief of the General Staff and First Deputy Defense Minister Pavel Muraveiko.
During drone exchanges between Russia and Ukraine, Belarusian air defense tracked drones that veered off course due to electronic warfare, with some being shot down over Belarus, Muraveiko said.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said Wednesday on the social platform X that the Polish airspace was violated by a "huge number of Russian drones" and some posed a "direct threat."
The Polish air forces shot down multiple drones in the country after detecting repeated airspace violations overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday, according to a statement from the Polish Armed Forces Operational Command.
