BEIJING - General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday sent congratulations to Vietnamese leaders on the 80th anniversary of the founding of Vietnam.

In his congratulations to General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee To Lam and Vietnamese President Luong Cuong, Xi noted that over the past 80 years, the CPV has united and led the Vietnamese people in forging ahead with perseverance and hard work, continuously opening up new prospects for the party and the country.

It is gratifying to note that today's Vietnam enjoys political and social stability, rapid economic growth, steady improvement in people's livelihoods, as well as rising international and regional influence, Xi said.

Xi expressed his confidence that under the strong leadership of the CPV Central Committee, Vietnam will continue on a socialist path suited to its national conditions, successfully convene the 14th National Congress of the CPV, and stride forward toward achieving the two goals set for the centenary of the party and the country.

Stressing that China and Vietnam are socialist neighbors connected by mountains and rivers and a community with a shared future that carries strategic significance, Xi said that over the 75 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties, the traditional friendship of "comrades plus brothers" forged and nurtured by older-generation leaders of the two countries has been constantly enhanced.

Recalling his state visit to Vietnam in April, Xi said that he and Vietnamese leaders reached important consensus on accelerating the building of a China-Vietnam community with a shared future that carries strategic significance, and jointly drew up a blueprint for the growth of bilateral relations in the new era.

China always regards Vietnam as a priority in its neighborhood diplomacy, Xi said, adding that China stands ready to work with Vietnam to take the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges as an opportunity to carry forward the traditional friendship, enhance solidarity and coordination, and further deepen and substantiate the comprehensive strategic cooperation, so as to bring more benefits to the two peoples and make greater contributions to the cause of human peace and progress.

In his congratulatory message to Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Tuesday, Chinese Premier Li Qiang said that under the strategic guidance of the top leaders of the two parties and two countries, China and Vietnam have seen sound momentum and fruitful outcomes in their comprehensive strategic cooperation, which has brought tangible benefits to the two peoples.

Li said that he is ready to jointly work with Pham Minh Chinh to elevate the building of a China-Vietnam community with a shared future to new heights.

Zhao Leji, chairman of China's National People's Congress Standing Committee, noted in his congratulatory message to Chairman of Vietnam's National Assembly Tran Thanh Man that he stands ready to work with Tran Thanh Man to give full play to the role of the joint committee mechanism between the legislative bodies of the two countries, and make positive contributions to the building of a China-Vietnam community with a shared future.
