PHNOM PENH/BANGKOK - Chiefs of Cambodian and Thai military regions on Friday reaffirmed their strong commitments to implementing a ceasefire reached by both countries recently, the Cambodian Defense Ministry said in a press release.

The reaffirmation was made during an extraordinary meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand Regional Border Committee (RBC) between Cambodia's fifth Military Region and Thailand's first Military Region in Thailand's Sa Kaeo province, the press release said.

"Both sides reaffirmed their strong commitments to implement the ceasefire and 13-point consensus, further strengthen bilateral relations, and restore normalcy in border areas," the press release said.

Thailand's Ad Hoc Center for Thailand-Cambodia Border Situation said on social media that both sides agreed to implement the 13-point consensus.

According to the center, the two sides also discussed other important issues, including agreeing to carry out humanitarian demining cooperation and combat transnational crime together.

Additionally, both sides agreed to establish a coordinating group and a township border committee to help address issues at local levels.
