BEIJING - Chinese stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.66 percent to 3,583.31 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.46 percent higher at 11,041.56 points.
The combined turnover of these two indices stood at about 1.5 trillion yuan ($210.17 billion), down from 1.6 trillion yuan the previous trading day.
Sectors such as military equipment and gold led the gains, while stocks related to photovoltaic equipment suffered major losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.5 percent to close at 2,334.32 points.
