XI'AN, China - China and Japan remained unbeaten in the single round-robin preliminaries of the women's softball Asia Cup after recording fifth straight win here on Wednesday.
China beat Singapore 7-0, and Japan saw off Chinese Taipei 4-1 and smashed Hong Kong, China 16-0 to share a 5-0 record.
Facing Singapore, Yan Siyu helped team China take a 1-0 lead through their rivals' errors in the first inning. Xie Jiaxin contributed a base hit to give Xi Kaixin the chance to score in the third inning.
In the fifth inning, Yan contributed a base hit which allowed her teammates to score three runs and seal their fifth victory at the tournament.
"When we failed to finish any run in the second inning, our coach asked us to be patient," Xie told Xinhua.
"We will face some though games in the next few days, I will do my best and lead us to move forward," she added.

Considered as the title favorites, team Japan and Chinese Taipei held an 1-1 draw before the last inning.
However, batter Fujimori Natsumi hit a home-run with two-out in the seventh that brought team Japan a 4-1 victory.
In the other games played on Wednesday, South Korea beat Hong Kong, China 9-1 and overwhelmed Thailand 8-0, The Philippines won over India 15-0 and defeated Malaysia 14-0. Singapore sailed past Malaysia 10-1.
China will face South Korea and the Philippines on Thursday.
Ten teams are competing in the single round-robin preliminaries with the top two finishers to vie for the title.
