The warning of US President Donald Trump for evacuation from the Iranian capital sent many residents onto crowded roads on Tuesday amid more Israeli and Iranian missile and drone attacks against each other with Iranian military warning of Tel Aviv residents to flee.
Trump, again pressing Iran for a “deal” and stressing no nuclear weapon for Iran, wrote on his Truth Social platform, “Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!" He then left the Group of Seven (G7) summit in Canada earlier than schedule along with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Western leaders at a G7 summit called for a de-escalation between the foes, but saying Iran must never have a nuclear weapon while affirming Israel's right to defend itself, without mentioning it was Israel that launched surprise attacks against the Islamic nation and that Israel is widely believed to possess advanced nuclear weaponry.

The Israel Defense Forces said on Tuesday, following "a sudden opportunity overnight” with "precise intelligence" the Israeli Air Force struck a “staffed command center in the heart of Tehran” and assassinated Major General Ali Shadmani. Shadmani is the new commander of Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, appointed after Israel assassinated Major General Gholam Ali Rashid, the previous head of the Iranian command, on Friday. There was no immediate confirmation from Iran.
Israel's military said Shadmani was Iran's wartime chief of staff, calling him the “most senior military commander”.
Fierce Israeli attacks targeted Iran’s state broadcaster, oil and uranium enrichment facilities since Monday. Israel hit Iran’s broadcasting authority, and footage showed a presenter hurrying from her seat as a blast struck and back to broadcast later.
The Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting resumed its broadcast shortly after the strike which claimed three lives, with a senior official at the service saying "the voice of the Islamic revolution ... will not be silenced with a military operation".

In Washington, Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth said the US was deploying "additional capabilities" to the Middle East as aircraft carrier USS Nimitz departed Southeast Asia on Monday, despite the White House saying US forces remained in a defensive posture there.
Meanwhile, Democratic senator Tim Kaine introduced legislation on Monday to prevent Trump from using military force against Iran without Congress’ authorization.
“It is not in our national security interest to get into a war with Iran ... I am deeply concerned that the recent escalation ... could quickly pull the US into another endless conflict," he said in a statement.
But Reuters reported Tuesday that anonymous sources said that Iran had asked Oman, Qatar and Saudi Arabia to urge Trump to pressure Netanyahu on an immediate ceasefire. In return, Iran would show flexibility in nuclear negotiations.
“If Trump is genuine about diplomacy and interested in stopping this war, next steps are consequential,” Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on X. “Israel must halt its aggression, and absent a total cessation of military aggression against us, our responses will continue.”

According to CBS, the US president is considering sending his Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff or Vice-President JD Vance to meet with officials in Iran for a “real end” to the nuclear problem with Iran that involves it “giving up entirely” on nuclear weapons.
Trump predicted Israel would not be slowing its attacks on Iran. “You’re going to find out over the next two days. You’re going to find out. Nobody’s slowed up so far,” a CBS journalist quoted Trump as saying on Air Force One.
Iran denies seeking nuclear weapons and has pointed to its right to nuclear technology for peaceful purposes, including enrichment, as a party to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.
