Several couples tied the knot at Guangzhou's Canton Tower on Tuesday, which was also the "520 festival" – an unofficial Valentine's Day that originated in the Chinese internet culture.

A collective marriage ceremony, dubbed "Bliss in Flower City", was held at an outdoor marriage registration station atop the 602-meter-high landmark. The station is the highest of its kind in China.

The country has revised its regulations to simplify the paperwork for marriage registration since May 10. According to official data, China recorded 1.81 million marriage registrations in the first quarter of this year.
