Sheinbaum rejects US offer to send troops to Mexico to fight drug trafficking

MEXICO CITY - Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has rejected US President Donald Trump's offer to deploy US military troops in her country to "help Mexico fight drug trafficking."

During an event in the state of Mexico on Saturday, Sheinbaum confirmed that Trump made the proposal in a recent phone call, and she rejected it, stressing that "sovereignty is not for sale."

Recently, Trump has repeatedly pressured Mexico over the drug issue along the US-Mexico border.
