Hong Kong will not yield to the US government's bullying and unjustified tariffs and firmly face challenges to seize opportunities, deputies resolved during a seminar held on Thursday at the Central Government Offices.

Round 100 Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) deputies to the National People's Congress (NPC) and HKSAR members of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) took part in the seminar organized by the HKSAR government to address the risks posed by US' "bullying and barbaric actions and to unite all sectors in analysing and seizing opportunities in the new international trade order", according to a government press release issued late Thursday.

Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu pointed out that the so-called reciprocal US tariffs violated World Trade Organization (WTO) norms and defied logic with 145 percent tariff slapped on Hong Kong, which is a free port.

The deputies opined that in the process of restructuring global trade relations and supply chains, "Hong Kong must maintain confidence, stand shoulder to shoulder with our country, grasp the emerging new order, explore new trade frontiers, safeguard economic security, and promote economic upgrading and transformation."
