HK FinTech Week, HK Tennis Open, 6th Encounter in Macao – Arts and Cultural Festival

HONG KONG – Financial practitioners and stakeholders from across the globe are set to meet in Hong Kong next week to discuss new trends and explore opportunities with the opening of the ninth annual Hong Kong FinTech Week on Oct 28.

The five-day event is expected to attract more than 30,000 attendees from over 100 economies across Asia and beyond, offering them a platform to connect with more than 100 top investors, more than 800 industry leaders and 500 per-Series A startups.

This year’s forum features an expanded venue and enhanced content tracks in Web3, artificial intelligence, sustainability, and wealth tech.

Tennis showdown

The highly anticipated Hong Kong Tennis Open (WTA 250) will return to the city on Oct 26 for its seventh edition. Fans are poised to witness top-tier female players showcasing their skills at the city’s Victoria Park.

This year, over 50 international female tennis elites will engage in intense singles and doubles matches, competing for prizes worth $250,000.

Leylah Fernandez will be back to defend her title, alongside a stellar lineup that includes rising Chinese stars Wang Xinyu, who is also Paris 2024 Olympics mixed doubles silver medalist, as well as Yuan Yue and Wang Xiyu. The city’s very own talents Eudice Chong and Cody Wong Hong-yi will also participate in the weeklong competition.

Cultural extravaganza

The 6th Encounter in Macao – Arts and Cultural Festival between China and the Portuguese-speaking Countries is in progress, presenting a series of activities showcasing vibrant Portuguese cultures and histories.

With an expanded scale, this year’s festival – presenting seven major series comprising nearly 70 events – runs from Oct 24 to Feb 9.

From a China-Portugal annual art exhibition to picture book showcases, traditional song and dance performances, film exhibitions, concerts, and wine-tasting workshops, a diverse array of activities unfold across historic architectural gems, community spaces, and modern theaters.
